Our Corporate Health Immunization Program provides TB testing and Hepatitis B immunizations. We offer convenient appointment scheduling at our Wyomissing location (1170 Berkshire Boulevard, Wyomissing, PA 19610). We also offer the opportunity for companies to hold an on-site TB Testing and/or Hepatitis B immunization clinic at their worksite for their employees.
TB Testing
The Mantoux tuberculin skin test (TST) is the standard method of determining whether a person is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The TST is performed by injecting 0.1ml of tuberculin purified protein derivative (PPD) into the inner surface of the forearm. The skin test reaction should be read between 48 and 72 hours after administration. (If the test is not read within that time period, you will need to be rescheduled for another skin test).
Two-step testing is useful for the initial skin testing of adults who are going to be retested periodically, such as health care workers or nursing home residents. This two-step approach can reduce the likelihood that a boosted reaction to a subsequent TST will be misinterpreted as a recent infection.
Hepatitis B Immunization
The Hepatitis B virus is spread through contact with the blood and body fluids of an infected person. Hepatitis B immunization can prevent Hepatitis B. It is the first anti-cancer vaccine because it can prevent a form of liver cancer. Hepatitis B immunization involves a three dose series. The first dose is given, followed by the second dose approximately one month later. The series is completed with the third dose which is given approximately 6 months after the initial dose.
Our goal is to provide a safe and healthy work environment!
